Bimbo Oloyede

Bimbo Oloyede has been a broadcast professional for over 4 decades and has dedicated the last 20 years to training broadcasters, executives, diplomats, teachers and corporate clients in presentation, communication and public speaking skills.

She began her career in 1975 as an assistant producer in the Drama department of the then NBC/TV, now NTA, and became the first woman to cast the nationwide Network News in 1976.

After leaving the NTA, she teamed up with her husband to establish Media International Ltd. – a radio and television Production Company, which has produced several award winning television commercials.

In 1999, she founded The Women’s Optimum Development Foundation (WODEF) to address the challenges faced by women and girls in our society, and has produced several jingles and programmes for radio and TV. WODEF celebrated International Women’s Day annually, by hosting The Rare Gems Awards, giving out 100 awards to those who have made worthy contributions to the development of women and the attainment of The Millennium Development Goals.

In 2002, she returned to the screens to anchor the news at 10 on Channels TV, and functioned as a trainer and consultant to the station. In 2015, Bimbo Oloyede was given a lifetime award for journalistic excellence by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism. She retired from active news anchoring shortly after marking her 40th anniversary in broadcasting. Till date, she remains a consultant to several media organisations and corporate outfits.

In 2017, she published her first book and audio CD titled ‘STRICTLY SPEAKING –  Pronunciation made easy’, sharing her wealth of experience with students and professionals alike to become confident speakers, communicators and presenters.

Mrs. Oloyede also moderates, comperes and speaks at development and national programmes and events, and over the years has represented the country in the UK, Europe and the Americas.
